This project required the design, planning consent and construction information for a 3-storey, 4 bedroom home on a very constrained plot.
Few sane people would have taken on this semi-derelict set of three small barns with trees growing out of the walls! This ongoing project continues to thrill!
4m2 extension, removal of structural walls/steel frame insertion, Tiny Tiny Victorian terrace house remodelling
The remodelling of this bungalow in Southerndown resulted in a stunning home with full sea views.
Adding a 4th floor with a 5th bedroom to a townhouse.
Do you remember we spoke and you asked me if I believe in miracles, indeed I do believe in them. Meeting a man of your calibre ie a very knowledgeable and decent man is no less than a miracle!
The scheme 3Ds, they are beautiful. I never believed the house could be so nice as I have been unable to visualise it in my head but you have done a great job. …. we really appreciate what you have done. I can’t stop looking at them and can’t wait to get it started.
Thanks for all of your and Rod’s hard work. It has been much appreciated.
Your work is always to a high standard and we truly appreciate the level of customer service we receive, and the professionalism in which everything is dealt with.
Thank you for your kind referral to a client of yours who wanted to sell their property at New Road, Skewen. You helped in the communications and negotiations in addition to the design and planning work, and were a great support in getting the project through to completion. It was a project with many hidden challenges and obstacles to overcome. The planning process was going smoothly;y until the Head of Planning decided otherwise. But you worked hard to challenge this thorough an Appeal, which was successful.
The property is now finished and fully let (2 flats, 1 commercial unit) and will be a successful property for us moving forward.
Your work is always to a high standard and we truly appreciate the level of customer service we receive, and the professionalism in which everything is dealt with. We would have no hesitation in recommending you to family, friends, and others with complete confidence that you will do the best by everyone involved.

“The garage conversion that Stephen undertook for us has been a complete success and enabled us to make use of what was a dead storage space. Stephen quickly understood our needs and provided designs ideas for us to evaluate. Whenever we needed input on the design and build he was quick to respond and this meant we could rely on him to keep the project on time and budget.
We are delighted with the result and everyone comments on what a great space it is. We generally used it as a home office and studio but it has also been used for parties. Stephen helped us to solve a number of problems and we still have a good storage area because an extension was created without spoiling the aesthetic of what is an attractive tile hung building.
The designs had been well thought through and we didn’t encounter any major problems in the planning process. The garage conversion has added significantly to the quality and value of our home. We would be happy to recommend Stephen Waldron Architects.”
Within an hour of Stephen’s initial visit, he was able to show us a rough sketch of the completed conversion. Where we only saw a detached garage full of junk, Stephen saw a sun-room, shower room, utility room and bike shed, connected to the main house! This is a reflection of Stephen’s creativity and imagination. Stephen’s attention to detail and breadth of experience were invaluable in not only employing a reliable builder but in producing a finished product of the highest quality. Our requests for, as far as possible, “environmentally friendly” products to be used were readily taken up by Stephen, and suitable suppliers found. Throughout the building process, Stephen monitored progress by regular phone-calls, e-mails and site visits. The “aftercare” that Stephen provided was also second-to-none: the final payment only being made 3 months after the completion date.
Stephen Waldron approached our rather small roof extension project with enthusiasm and care. He treated our house and our opinions respectfully, always listening to our many questions and answering or helping us answer them.
Not only were we happy with the design process but we were also grateful for Stephen’s extensive knowledge of materials, new technologies and his great experience of local planning procedures and building regulations.
I especially appreciated his allowance for ‘good light’, his meticulous efforts to fit our staircase in and his final bill – which came in under budget. I can’t complain about that!
We now enjoy our views daily.”
