Tourist ‘Banda’ construction to provide cross-subsidy to Aids Orphan charity
4m2 extension, removal of structural walls/steel frame insertion, Tiny Tiny Victorian terrace house remodelling
This project required the design, planning consent and construction information for a 3-storey, 4 bedroom home on a very constrained plot.
Stephen Waldron Architects was commissioned to design, obtain detailed-planning consent, and provide a full set of construction information for the conversion of a small stable block into two holiday cottages.
Glass roofed barn becomes a first for the Brecon Beacons National Park.
We recently worked with Stephen Waldron when the opportunity arose to develop an empty piece of land on which we wanted to build properties for on-sale. Thank you again for all your help and professionalism in understanding the needs of the project.
Within an hour of Stephen’s initial visit, he was able to show us a rough sketch of the completed conversion. Where we only saw a detached garage full of junk, Stephen saw a sun-room, shower room, utility room and bike shed, connected to the main house! This is a reflection of Stephen’s creativity and imagination. Stephen’s attention to detail and breadth of experience were invaluable in not only employing a reliable builder but in producing a finished product of the highest quality. Our requests for, as far as possible, “environmentally friendly” products to be used were readily taken up by Stephen, and suitable suppliers found. Throughout the building process, Stephen monitored progress by regular phone-calls, e-mails and site visits. The “aftercare” that Stephen provided was also second-to-none: the final payment only being made 3 months after the completion date.
We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Stephen on our planning application. The process was smooth and without any hiccups. Stephen is very knowledgeable of local planning regulations. Communication was excellent with Stephen answering the phone at all times and emails answered in a day, sometimes within the hour. He contacted for us all external agencies and spoke personally with planners. We would highly recommend this company.
What impressed us about Stephen, from the outset, was his willingness to work within the budget with which we felt comfortable.
Rather than approach him with an idea of what we wanted, we instead presented him with the problems we were trying to solve and our perceived needs and nice-to-haves.
What we got from this was a series of ideas, many of which we had not thought of, that stimulated us to think about our home in ways we had not done before.
“Stephen Waldron Architects came alongside us as a small but rapidly growing film production company. He understood our needs and the critical timing key to successful seamless transition for the company between locations. At the same time our budget was ridiculously tight! We couldn’t afford to wait for complex and lengthy local authority negotiations over means of scape and disabled access to this first floor studio space that our agents had warned us of and his negotiations had to be right first time.
With a competitive fee, they were able to produce creative, effective and flexible solutions to all our many problems coming in fast succession. The result is a team here that love the sense of space; our clients often comment on how different our offices feel to visit.
We will definitely be working with Stephen Waldron Architects again and highly recommend him.
